This is a generic error message from AVG to tell you that AVG could not install. AVG has no idea of what the problem may be so it is a waste of time to contact them so that they can tell you to use the AVG uninstall tool or to let them connect to your computer. It will be a tremendous waste of time...
Here are some solutions that might work for you:

Use the AVG Remover tool and any other toll from the other Anti-Virus sellers to remove their products also.

  • Turn off Windows Defender

    I installed another Anti-Virus program trial (Avast) then uninstalled it. After that I could install AVG fully. It seems that AVG cannot detect the firewall settings any more and fails.
    In this case it was Windows Defender that AVG could not stop and replace and so it failed. Avast detected Windows Defender and turned it off.

  • Create a new local account

    If you are on Windows 10 and Microsoft has conned you into believing that you need to setup a Microsoft account with your email address to use your computer. This is the cause of many later problems; one of which is AVG installation that fails on downloading the product. I don't know exactly why this causes problems but it does. So, either create a local account or change your account to a local account then attempt the AVG install. AVG should install properly using the new account.
